Course Overview
With OriGym’s Fitness Tutor course you’ll develop the necessary skills and knowledge required to plan and deliver lessons for both in-person and online students. After completion, you can pursue careers with educational bodies, vocational training providers, or independent registers.
You’ll also acquire the teaching and assessing skills needed to conduct official examinations and mark coursework. In doing so you’ll ensure the next generation of fitness professionals meet the highest industry standards.

Course Length: Whilst you can work independently, students typically complete the course in 8 weeks.
Entry Requirements: There are no prerequisites for our fitness assessor qualification. However, in order to teach a course you must hold the relevant associated certification. All students must also be aged 16+.

Whilst some employers may include insurance in your contract, it’s always best to ensure you’re covered. The main types of insurance you should consider are:
- Public Liability Insurance – This protects you against client injury and property damage.
- Professional Indemnity Insurance – Covers you if a client feels you have given them incorrect or bad advice which has caused them injury or illness.
Other insurance policies such as personal accident, loss of earrings, and equipment coverage is also beneficial. Be sure to compare providers, in order to protect yourself legally.
In addition to this, most employers now require teachers and assessors to clear a DBS certificate.
You don’t need to have any prior qualifications to enrol on our Fitness Teacher and Assessor certification. However, most students who enrol on this course will already be qualified after studying our Personal Training Diploma.
Keep in mind, you will only be able to teach courses that you’re qualified in yourself, so you may need to undergo additional training after completion.
Completing this course will see you earn two separate qualifications, one in teaching and one in assessing. During your study, you will learn how to plan and deliver lessons, in addition to evaluating and marking assignments.
This course also covers wellbeing techniques, ensuring that your classes are safe for every student. This includes developing your knowledge of the legalities, roles, and responsibilities of the educational sector.
